WalkAbout Redondo

What if you could get HUNDREDS of people to the door of your business for only $25?

Sounds great, right?
That’s what WalkAbout Redondo does for local businesses along Artesia Boulevard. Having a business on the very busy Boulevard is challenging enough to get people to stop at your location. Having a positive community event that draws people to you is an effective grassroots way to get people to discover or come back to your business. Over the past 5 years that NRBBA has organized WalkAbout, we’ve heard tons of people — even locals who live around the corner — say “I never knew that business was here until I did the WalkAbout!”

We continue to organize this event each year because we believe in supporting our business community and the prudent businesses that take advantage of this opportunity to connect with and build rapport with potential customers during the WalkAbout see value in participating.

Why are we charging this year?
It’s very simple. It costs money to put on an event of this size and to keep it free for the community. We’re collecting a very small fee ($25) for this year’s WalkAbout 2018 from businesses that chose to participate. And $25 is a mere fraction of our cost to run the WalkAbout, which costs thousands of dollars. Your entry fee is considered a marketing expense for the business. Where other forms of highly-targeted and hyper-local marketing typically cost hundreds to thousands per month, we’ve purposely kept the entry fee very low for the businesses.  We’re a non-profit and we know what it means to run a business on a tight budget. Promotion, food and marketing the event costs money. Just $25 can help offset some of these expenses and allow us to continue improving this event each year.

Luckily, thanks to the generous members in our local community including BCHD/Blue Zones Project, NRBBA and residents who volunteer hours of their time to help staff and organize the event each year, we save on expenses that would otherwise need to be paid out to support the event and would cost much more. — And for this, we’re grateful!
