Get Certified & Get Ready for 2028 Olympic & Paralympic Games
The Los Angeles County Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO), in partnership with the North Redondo Beach Business Association, will host a meeting and workshop to help small businesses prepare for upcoming contracting opportunities connected to the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The meeting includes an overview of the County’s 88 for 28 initiative, expected procurement pathways for LA28, and guidance on how to access County contracting opportunities. The in-person Workship provides hands-on certification support and access to live technical assistance.
Program Highlights Include:
- 88 for 28 Overview: Key information channels and Olympic-related planning efforts.
- How to Get Certified: Vendor registration, certification steps, and available technical assistance.
- Upcoming Opportunity Landscape: What to expect from LA28 procurement and County solicitation pathways.
- Hands-On Support: In-person guidance on documentation and certification preparation.

- LA28 will tap into an expansive network of suppliers to execute on hundreds of contract opportunities across logistics, hospitality, tourism, transportation, and events. Register here.

- The LA Sports & Entertainment Commission was developed in 2022 to connect local diverse businesses to premier LA-based sporting and entertainment events. Eligibility requires certification as a minority, woman, LGBTQ+, person with disabilities, or veteran-owned business that provides services that match the event production needs of these clients. - Certification Preference Program Entities also enjoy 15% Price Preference and 15 – Day Price Preference and Access to the Streamlined Acquisition Process (SAP) within the County’s procurement processes.
Immediately after the Rise & Shine Redondo meeting, a workshop conducted by Enrique Gonzalez, Supervisor, Office of Small Business, Dept. of Economic Opportunity, The County of Los Angeles, will provide you with step-by-step instructions to complete your LA County Certification requirements. Please RSVP if you will be available to attend so we can plan the space requirements needed.
In order to get certified at the workshop you must prepare in advance:
- Register and Certify with the State of California’s Marketplace: Plan to do this by March 1, it takes a few days to complete the process and get approved by the State.
- Register and submit requested supporting documentation or bring to the meeting. Plan to do this by March 6.
